Ione Rucquoi graduated from Goldsmith’s College in ‘98 with a first class degree. She later went on to focus and develop her photography culminating in her fabulous show ‘Birds, Fishwives and Bunnygirls’,
Rucquoi’s photographs touch on forbidden boundaries. Sometimes difficult to look at they evoke a narrative and encourage the imagination. The images are exotic, bizarre, strange and filled with tension, while at the same time almost classical in quality with beautiful composition and a strong sense of drama.
Revolving around ideas of feminine psychology, personal identity and stereotyping Rucquoi’s photographs result in a strong visual language, heavy in symbolism and saturated with self expression.
Her unique photographic style was a finalist for the prestigious Terry O’Neill Photography Award and featured in The Sunday Times Magazine and The British Journal of Photography.
